God at the very core of this cosmos, without Whom all—including us—would not
exist? Isn’t it silly—when you think about
it—that we were asked to memorize what
flawed people did, instead of what God
has been, is, and will be doing for His
Glory with, through, and for us for all
eternity?
You were right! Since only He is Life, can
beget Life, and can resurrect Life, if you cut
Him out of the story, you’re left with total
sterility. Did your history classes produce
life in you? Are they reproducing life in
your children now, through you? If not,
you’re right to avoid the cramping, man-sized compaction in history studies, which
backfires by shutting out everything more
majestic than our brains can dissect and
label, such as our Lord’s Personhood, Plan,
Truth, Beauty, Wonder, Love, and Heroism.
But these are what draws us and our children like bees to honey! It’s what our very
souls are craving!
You can now give voice—and vividness—to what was once a void, either
by yourself, or through helpful materials. You knew something was missing,
but perhaps could not describe or explain why it all seemed so dead and dull,
purposeless and powerless. That’s just
what Humanism wanted history to be, to
make mankind look big enough, in comparison, to be a god in his own image . . .
so there was none vaster to worship.
But, that is not what you want. So, you
needn’t continue (or avoid) the same man-focused history in your own home. You
want God in His rightful place! You know
humans thrive only when He is rightly esteemed, because when His value is first,
and our human value derives from it,
then the bedrock realities of the universe
are rightly reflected in the human governments, social structures, cultures, and
economies which He generously allows us
to sub-rule.
You knew it all along, you smart girl!
