You can easily and affordably implement
an effective elementary or middle school
Spanish program at home or in a co-op
classroom with Spanish for You!
Teaching and learning Spanish is fun
and easy to do because Spanish for You!
provides teachers, parents, and students
with step-by-step lessons that never leave
you wondering what you need to do and are
filled with a variety of easily taught activities that kids enjoy.
The philosophy behind the Spanish for
You! ( spanish-for-you.net) curriculum is
that you can provide academic excellence to
your students and make teaching and learning Spanish a fun and easy experience for all
in a simple, effective, and affordable way.
Spanish for You! can provide this to you
because it is written and taught by me, Debbie Annett, a 17-year veteran teacher with
12 years as a homeschool co-op teacher. I
know the needs of parents, teachers, and
students first-hand. So, I design my materials accordingly, and then take what I do
with my students and format it for others
to use. Everything comes directly from me
to you!
You will find that with Spanish for You!:
• You can teach different ages the same material during the same school year with lessons tailored to their ages/grades.
• You can go at your own pace.
• You can reuse all materials with younger
children later.
• Your kids will enjoy the child-friendly lessons.
• You can hear all the material on audio files
so you never question pronunciation, and
you will be told exactly when and which
files to use.
• Your kids can do interactive games and activities to practice together.
• You don’t need to know Spanish to use this
with your kids. You can even learn along
with them if you choose!
If you need a curriculum for co-op
classes, this is just for you! Here’s how it
works:
• Teach class one hour per week with my
step-by-step, low-prep lesson plans.
• Assign the corresponding week in my step-by-step lesson guide for homework.
• That’s it!
• Also, you can place new and returning students of the same age/grade together be-ginning each school year. Your returning
students will continue to progress while the
new students are seamlessly integrated.
• You don’t have to know Spanish to teach
this. You can learn right along with your
students!

Breaking The Barrier
At the beginning of 6th grade, I had a big
choice to make. Would I elect Spanish or
French? Hmmm. All of a sudden, my selection was made very easy when I discovered that my Sunday School teacher (at the
Methodist church in Evanston, Illinois,
where my dad was the minister) happened
to be the Spanish instructor at my local junior high school. I felt that this “holy alliance” might help me earn a top grade.
In fact, it ended up offering me my life’s
work. I fell in love with Spanish, and my world
has been richly blessed by being able to speak to
many people in their native tongue. Languages
build the best bridges to others, and the understanding of other cultures is something that can
make the world a better place.
I’ve now been teaching Spanish for over
thirty years, and I’m convinced that the
very best path to language fluency is simply
to speak it. Ironically, we, as teachers, often
dominate the airwaves in class. But if our
students are to progress, we must give them
the chance to speak as much as possible.
I begin every single class (whether it be
Spanish 1 or AP Spanish) with the same five-minute warm-up activity. Over the years, I have
