From 1952-1960, Herbert was featured
on General Electric’s nationally broad-
cast GE Theater as its science reporter;
Ronald Reagan was the program’s host.
Herbert, a well-known and trusted “sci-
ence expert,” brought GE’s new inno-
vations to viewers by introducing new
products General Electric was develop-
ing for consumer use.
From 1965 to 1966, Mr. Wizard pro-
duced and narrated Experiment, eight
half-hour films based on discoveries of
renowned scientists, each with an in-
depth portrait of their findings. These
films, Attack Patterns of Sharks, Secret
of the White Cell, Close-Up of Mars, The
Invisible Planet, Weather by Numbers,
Childhood of the Chimpanzee, Laser-
Light of the Future, and Case History of a
Volcano all became award-winning short
documentaries.
From 1983-1991, he wrote, produced,
and acted in Mr. Wizard’s World on
Nickelodeon, a magazine-format cable
TV show that was a faster-paced, ac-tion-filled show that featured more than
30 short science experiments in each
half-hour episode. His wife Norma was
executive producer and, as a team, they
worked closely to produce the show
for Nickelodeon, as well as all other
projects. Mr. Wizard’s World consisted
of categories such as Everyday Magic,
Frontier, Close-Ups, Safari, Supermarket Science, Quick Quiz, and How
Things Work.
From 1977-1989, Mr. Wizard produced and created 293 Science News
Reports on the advancement of science
and technology, creating the How About
broadcast and syndicated to TV stations
throughout the US and Canada. These
reports were later retitled Science &
Technology Reports and packaged as a
handsome seven-DVD set.
From 1990–1994, Herbert created
Teacher to Teacher. For this show, he did
on-camera interviews, highlighting the
best elementary school science teach-ers that used hands-on, inquiry-based
science models to teach science. Herbert,
along with Mr. Wizard Studios, created
50 episodes documenting his findings
nationwide.
Don Herbert, as Mr. Wizard, was actively involved in the Mr. Wizard Studios with his direction, development
of the company, and website until his
death in June 2007. He personally chose
the shows to be put on DVD that he felt
had the greatest impact on teaching and
learning science.
Tom and Kristen Nikosey own and operate Mr. Wizard Studios and are committed to maintaining Mr. Wizard’s outstanding legacy. They are both graphic
designers and have worked together designing all of the Mr. Wizard projects for
the past 15 years as well as having their
own design projects. Tom is a branding
and logo designer and has worked on a
variety of projects for the record business, movies, television, sports, and much
more. Kristen is a graphic designer, art
director, and painter and worked in the
record business as an art director at various record companies.

Mr. Wizard’s writings and notes were
archived by Mr. Wizard Studios and
donated to The Smithsonian Institute’s
Museum of American History in 2014.
Mr. Wizard was recognized by the U.S.
House of Representatives, marking his
passing, on June 12, 2007, and fittingly,
an asteroid is named in his honor.
Mr. Wizard Studios actively contin-
ues his legacy by making available Mr.
Wizard’s three award-winning shows
on DVD. These DVDs are filled with
science experiments, demonstrations,
and entertaining and educational
information.
Mr. Wizard was also recognized for
the many books that he wrote such as
