Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
acts like a neurological “traffic jam” that
prevents certain parts of the brain from
receiving the information needed to
understand and respond to sensations
such as touch, sound and movement.
SPD often manifests as poor behavior,
poor social skills or lack of coordination
and can coexist with ADHD and learning
disabilities. Kids with SPD have issues
with learning, sitting still and focusing.
Sensory issues often impact:
academic performance
concentration
playing with others
motor skills and handwriting
response to loud sounds or being
touched
speech, language and communication
