like. The world desperately needs to see
a love that doesn't give up when offend-
ed—a;love;that;sacrifices,;gives;and;gives,
and keeps on giving.
Loving your Children
When Jesus was talking to Peter about
love,;He;said;this:;Feed;my;lambs;(John
21: 15). Loving God is actively loving
others by feeding them the food of
God. We see references to this feeding
of lambs also in Song of Solomon 1: 8
where he tells the bride if she wants to
know where he is and what he is doing
with;his;flocks,;that;she;is;to;bring;her
lambs and feed her lambs by the shepherd’s tent. What a great analogy for us
as homeschooling mothers as we feed
God’s little lambs. Don’t forget that He
gently leads those that are with young
(Isaiah 40: 11).
Don’t be so hard on yourself concerning academics when you have a lot of
little ones to tend—the most important
thing is to lead them to their Shepherd
and feed them the food of God’s Word. It
was said that Susanna Wesley taught all
ten of her children to read by the age of
5 using only phonetic sounds and their
Bibles. And as soon as they learned to
speak,;they;learned;to;pray.
If our children are well loved at home;
it will affect the rest of their adult lives. If
they;are;not;shown;Christ-like,;sacrific-ing,;righteous;love,;it;will;adversely;affect
them;the;rest;of;their;adult;lives.;Moms,
don’t neglect this high calling of love for
lesser things.
Loving Others
God will bring many people in your
path,;and;how;you;love;them;is;what;will
be important, whether it is neighbors,
friends,;church;members,;or;the;sick;or
homeless. Your children will watch you
and learn to love others with the same
love.;Therefore,;all;forms;of;church;and
community involvement will be important in your homeschooling life.
3 – I Will Only Do What I See My
Father Doing
Jesus said this several times in the New
Testament.
2 If this way of life was good
enough;for;Jesus,;it;definitely;should;be
good enough for us. Ask God what it is
He wants to do in your life and the life
of your children, and follow His lead.
He will give you wisdom if you seek it.
Search for understanding: though it
costs all the time and energy you have
(Proverbs 4: 7) and you will find wisdom
in abundance. Keep your eyes fully on
God at all times and consult Him for ev-
ery decision you make. If it’s something
God would do; then you know you are
on the right track. I will only do what I
see my Father doing. This should clear up
a lot of our overcommitted calendars!
4 – I Will Take My Thoughts
Captive
What we are thinking directly affects how
we are living. If we are thinking right;
we are probably living right. If we have
thoughts of Godliness and meditating
on;holiness,;we;are;most;likely;living;a
Godly;and;holy;life.;On;the;other;hand,;if
our;thoughts;are;always;negative,;dwell-ing;on;all;that;is;wrong,;then;our;lives
will show it. If we are always thinking
anxious;thoughts,;then;the;atmosphere
in our homes will be one of anxiety in all
its stressful forms. In order to change the
way we live and the way our home func-tions,;we;must;change;the;way;we;think.
We must meditate on the Word of God.
We must take every thought captive that
wants;to;lift;itself;up;above;God.;As;we
think; so we live.
For though we walk in the flesh, we
do not war after the flesh: (For the
weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the
pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every
high thing that exalteth itself against
the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought
to the obedience of Christ . . .”
2 Corinthians 10: 3-5
So stop thinking thoughts of failure
about homeschooling. If you are obeying God’s commands to train up your
children;in;Godliness,;then;you;will;be
rewarded for your efforts. He will take
your little bread and fish and feed the
multitude. Have faith in God. He doesn’t
fail! Meditate on the Word of God day
and;night,;for;then;you;will;make;your
way prosperous and successful (Psalm 1;
Joshua 1).

It;is;not;that;we;are;obligated;or;required;to;love;God,;but;that;it;is;His;faithful,
overflowing;love;towards;these;dusty,;lazy,;sinful,;deceitful,;prone-to-wander
hearts of ours that propels us to love Him.
