Our home is the epitome of controlledchaos. Werunfive businesses and homeschool two children, all within the
confines;of;our;little;cabin;on;the;hill.
It;always;amazes;me;how;God;gifts;us
with an abundance of creativity and the
means by which to express it. We use
what we have to the fullest extent pos-
sible;and;extract;every;bit;of;life’s;mar-
row out of its proverbial bones. We live a
beautiful life. To many it may seem that
our life is somewhat out of control, but
we;know;the;true;secret;to;our;family’s
success: God is in control of everything.
Johnny, my husband, is a full-time realtor, generating leads, negotiating contracts, and building client relationships.
He;generally;works;from;home,;although
there are days when he is out and about
seeking;new;business,;working;from;his
favorite coffeehouse, or meeting clients.
Our son, James, is a ninth-grade stu-
dent;with;a;growing;beekeeping;business
(Bubba’s;Beez).;He;maintains;his;hives
with a little brawn from my husband,
who;helps;lift;the;100-pound;boxes;of
bees, honey, and wax. James handles the
honey extraction and bottling. I create all
the;beeswax;products,;market;his;busi-
ness, and maintain his Etsy store, but it
takes;all;four;of;us;working;together;to
manage;the;booth;at;local;market;events.
Our daughter, Lauren, a sixth-grade
student, is currently writing her first
novel and for a while was selling her
gourmet dog treats at local market
events. She handled everything from
baking;to;packaging;and;marketing;her
treats, as well as maintaining her website. As for me, I fill in the gaps and
maintain the home, assist my husband
