Lindsey: A few of the teenagers
and;moms;of;kids;with;APD;put;our
heads together and shared our stories
through;a;book.;It’s;titled;Same Journey, Different Paths: Stories of Auditory
Processing Disorder. We each wrote a
chapter telling our individual stories
and experiences in hopes of encouraging and helping anybody else out there
who;is;dealing;with;what;we’ve;all;been
through. We have [contributions from]
people from four different countries
and all different ages, and we shared
our stories so that hopefully people out
there;with;APD;or;kids;with;APD;can
connect to the stories and benefit from
our experiences.
If you are feeling discouraged trying to
teach;your;child;with;APD,;please;pick
up;that;book;and;read;it.;It;will;give;you
encouragement that others have been
where you are, and you can see how
they’ve;handled;the;situation.
Nanci: Tell us about your art and your
photography business.
Lindsey: When I was in junior high, I
took;a;Photography;class.;It;was;enough
to;intrigue;me;and;inspire;me;to;take
more pictures. I started carrying around
my small digital camera with me ev-
erywhere. I developed an eye for the
interesting angles and how to get really
great shots.
For Christmas a year or so later, my
parents got me a nice Nikon camera.
That’s;when;my;interest;in;photography
exploded. I was never without my camera. I got better and better, and I would
take;my;friends;around;town;to;take;pic-tures of them for fun.
When it came the time of year for
seniors to get their pictures made, I got
asked;by;a;few;of;them;to;take;their;se-nior;pictures.;That;was;when;I;first;star-ted;getting;paid;to;take;pictures.;Since
then,;I’ve;done;a;few;weddings,;engage-ment sessions, newborns, and children.

One day I would love to have my own
studio;where;I;can;take;pictures;of;peo-ple . . . [and enjoy] several other areas
of;art;I’m;good;at,;like;painting,;draw-ing, slide shows, and videos. I love be-ing;able;to;capture;a;person’s;personality
through a photo that can be framed and
seen for years to come. I try to capture
God’s;beauty;in;the;person;and;empha-size;the;beauty;of;His;creation.
