CPR.;When;performed;until;emergency
response teams can arrive, it is an effec-
tive;way;to;improve;a;victim’s;chances
of survival by two to three times. There
are only two steps to remember with this
type;of;CPR:
Step;1:;Call;911.
Step;2:;Push;down;hard;in;the;center
of the chest to the beat of the disco song
“Stayin’;Alive.”*;Take;a;minute;right;now

found here: bit.ly/1nTBEnv. The University of Washington website provides
a wealth of information about learning
CPR,;including;a;link;to;a;mobile;app;for
both Apple devices and Androids. You
can;also;find;videos,;quizzes,;and;even
learn;about;CPR;for;cats;and;dogs!;Go

website;does;not;take;the;place;of;a;CPR
class, but it is a great place to start.
As Christians, we are called to help others in their hour of need. “But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he
was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, and went to him, and bound
up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine,
and set him on his own beast, and brought
him to an inn, and took care of him” (Luke
10: 33–34)
.;At;any;point,;we;can;find;our-selves;in;a;situation;like;the;one;that;the
Good Samaritan found himself in. He was
simply going about his business that fateful day when he happened upon a stranger in need. You may be the one God has
chosen;to;make;that;difference;in;the;life
of another person. The most important
emergency;response;skill;is;caring—
willingness to interrupt our lives to come to
someone;else’s;rescue.
Never practice chest compressions on a healthy
person who is not in need of rescue measures!
This could cause great bodily harm. Instead, use
a;doll;or;a;CPR;dummy.
