special needs challenges.
Facebook;is;just;so;huge;these;days.
Many families have expressed concern
about the world knowing what they
are doing. I can tell you, for sure, if
you have a young person on one of the
big social media sites, someone is out
there;looking;for;them.;Another;reality
is the idea that much of our communication online is being peeped at by
certain state agencies, no matter what
country you live in. There is a trend of
people changing just how they interact
on;these;sights.;Tim;Craig,;Professor;of
Communications at Warner University
says, “Learn as much about the rights as
a user and what rights you forfeit when
it;comes;to;membership.;Facebook;is;a
great;tool;.;.;.;However;;it;works;best
if;the;family;works;together;with;each
other to make it a positive, and safe,
experience.”;2
Some are opting out of the big sites and
joining into smaller niche social sites.
SchoolhouseFamilies.com is exactly that
kind;of;site.;Membership;is;limited;to;age
18;and;up.;Young;people;are;encouraged
to;participate;as;a;part;of;their;family’s
account.
Are there creepy people on there? Not
so many, so far. There have been many
attempts. The built in security algorithm
helps, but the moderators do the rest of
the;work.;Sorry,;but;if;your;email;address
ends with buydiscountmeds.za, you
will;not;be;approved.;So,;I’m;a;profiler.
Go;ahead;and;point;your;finger.;You;may
decide that you still want to use Face-book,;Twitter,;or;Google;Plus.;But;at;least
there;are;new;options;like;this;available.
The trend is to gather with micro-tribes
who share the same calling that you do.
Seth;Godin,;today’s;marketing;smart;guy,
states, “The future increasingly belongs
to;those;that;care;enough;to;make;prod-
ucts;and;services;for;those;that;care.” 3

sharpens;another.”;–Proverbs;27: 17;(ESV) 4
Are;you;feeling;like;you;have;a;little;flat
tire;in;your;homeschooling;lately?;Per-haps you have discovered new tools for
parenting in general. SchoolhouseFami-lies.com;can;be;that;safe;spot;that’s;easy
to;go;to;and;share;with;like-minded;fam-ilies. Every day you can see iron sharpening iron in action. Come join us!
