and just living life were incredibly hectic.
I;did;my;school;work;from;9:00;a.m.;to
approximately;2: 30;p.m.,;right;up;until
I;went;to;work.;I;worked;from;3: 15;p.m.
until;6: 30;p.m.;four;days;a;week.;During
this;time,;I;also;began;my;first;college
course through Ancient Art Midwifery
Institute. My first course in midwifery
took;6;months;to;complete.;I;discovered
my love and passion for midwifery and
everything;surrounding;birth;while;tak-ing this course. I had felt that midwifery
was where God was leading me before
I;took;the;class;;but;after;taking;it,;I;be-lieve wholeheartedly that it is where He
is leading me to be.
Deciding to study midwifery was a
pretty;easy;decision;to;make;after;pray-ing about it. Midwifery is defined by
Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as “the
art;or;act;of;assisting;at;childbirth”;or
“the art, act, or process of producing,
bringing forth, or bringing about.” 1 I
found;out;shortly;after;making;this;de-cision that my local community college
had just started offering a midwifery
program at one of their campuses, locat-ed;a;mere;thirty-five;minutes;from;my
house. Discovering this was definitely
God’s;doing,;because;my;other;options
were very expensive online or private
colleges;that;I;just;couldn’t;afford!;God
has birthed this love and passion in my
heart for a reason. I cannot get enough of
anything having to do with pregnancy,
birth, mommies, and babies. Whether
it;be;a;movie,;television;program,;book,
magazine,;or;article,;I;will;love;it;and
dissect every word the author has written on this passion of mine.
While I am currently a student at the
community college and pursuing my degree in midwifery, I have a plan of starting
a small photography business to support
myself during the years of college and
the beginning years of being a midwife. I
intend;to;take;photos;of;pregnant;moth-ers, births, and newborns, or anyone else
willing;to;have;their;photo;taken;by;me.
The name of my soon-to-be project is
Espere Photography, which is Haitian
Creole;and;translates;into;“hope.”;I;came
to the revelation of the name for my proj-
ect;from;Hebrews;6: 19,;which;I;am;sure
many;of;us;know;by;heart.;This;verse
states, “Which hope we have as anchor
of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and
which entereth into that within the veil.”
This project was burning in my heart for
so long, and I am so incredibly excited to
finally;be;in;the;beginning;stages;of;plan-
ning my launch.
With all of these major components,
I was able to complete my high school
education in an approximate time span
of three years. Other aspects and people
attributed to this accomplishment great-ly.;I;am;eternally;grateful;and;thankful
for these things and the people who
helped;me;during;this;amazing,;influ-ential, stressful, overwhelmingly passionate, and creative time in my life. So,
now;you;know;a;16;year;old;high;school
graduate!
Caitlin, also known as Caity by family and
friends, is currently attending South Louisiana Community College as midwifery
major. She plans to graduate college and
travel the world with her passions of midwifery, writing, and photography and
spread God’s love to the nations.
