Homeschooler Presentation
In the spring, we invited a home-
schooling student to make a presen-
tation titled “Boxes for Bracelets.” She
explained about the nonprofit group,
Apparent Project, which is teaching
the Haitian people a trade; the money
raised allows them to feed and sup-
port their families, thus keeping their
children out of the orphanages. Using
recycled cereal and cracker boxes,
beautiful jewelry and other items are
being made. Feeling personally at-
tached to the Haitian orphans due to
the 2010 earthquake, as well as hav-
ing an aunt who is adopting from this
country, this young lady was collecting
cereal boxes for this cause.
to a group of ladies and share her tender
heart toward the unfortunate brought
tears to my eyes. She was such an inspiration to all of us and definitely spurred us
all on to continue homeschooling!
Christian School Serves
Homeschoolers
At the very last meeting of the year, we
invited a local Christian school administrator, who had been a homeschooling mom for many years, to come to our
meeting. She shared with us about the
school’s new mission and their desire to
serve the homeschooling community.
Many of us identified courses that would
particularly benefit homeschoolers, such
as drama, Christian dance, music, and
extracurricular sports. Just seeing these
two educational communities come together, both desiring to see young people
reach their highest potential for the Lord,
was inspiring.
In conclusion, this network of lo-
cal moms has provided a great way to
fellowship with other homeschooling
moms, making this journey one of both
joy and encouragement. If you are not
currently involved in a homeschooling
support group, please consider starting
one in your area. Romans 12: 5 says, “In
the same way, even though we are many
individuals, Christ makes us one body
and individuals who are connected to
each other.”
2 Just imagine . . . an earthly
connection that has eternal value—what
could be better than that!
