Show & Tell
Renita Bentz
Meet the
Bentz Bunch
Welcome to Bentz Acad- emy for Gifted and Tal- ented Students (I be- lieve they all are gifted
and talented)! We are the Bentz Bunch:
Matt, Renita, Samuel, Luke, Noah, Selah,
Lydia, Joshua, Chloe, and Esther. That’s
right—eight blessings from God, and six
of them currently in school! I have done
some math (not my favorite subject), and
for one school year I will be privileged
to have all of them “in school”—a senior
and a kindergartener—start praying for
me right now!
Think outside the educational box, and you will find
true freedom in your homeschooling.
Let’s start at the beginning of this
amazing adventure. When I met my
husband, we were both full-time “pro-
fessionals” pursuing our careers. As we
dated, I felt led to let him know, “I’m not
your barefoot, pregnant, stay-at-home
type.” Well, seventeen years later, my
dear husband’s best sales achievement is
having convinced me to leave that career
and begin a new one: barefoot, usually
pregnant, stay-at-home, homeschool-
ing mom of eight! Actually, I always say,
“God knew the desires of my heart, even
before I did.” What a blessing this trans-
formation has been!
Selah is our oldest daughter, age 9. She is
our “girly girl,” loving horses and ballet
(actually, she just informed me she wants
to dance on horseback . . .). Lydia is our
“firecracker.” At age 8, she is our energetic, outgoing, and completely wonderful free spirit. Joshua, 6, is the “dino boy,”
loving all things dinosaur, and he loves
his mom too. Chloe is our “curly-haired
princess,” a 5-year-old delight. She is taking us down new educational paths with
speech therapy. Esther, 3, is the “baby
queen”; she knows how to get everyone
here to do her bidding. She’s so adorable,
if you met her, you’d do it too!
I’m often asked, “How do you do it?”
and I always reply, “I don’t ‘do it.’ ” Isaiah
54: 13 says, “All thy children shall be taught
of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of
