Who has their fall candles burning? That is one of my
favorite things about fall—
the candle scents (and the
beautiful leaves of autumn).
I am really happy October is
here, and I hope you are too.
We have so many good prod-
ucts to share with you below.
I hope you enjoy the issue of
The Old Schoolhouse® Maga-
zine’s Lab!
This month, we again bring
you some amazing reviews
from our Schoolhouse Review Crew. You can click
through to their blogs at the
bottom of each review to read
more from them. We have
a lovely group of dedicated
homeschooling families on
the Crew. Come check them
all out at our Crew Blogroll.

Now, let’s get to
the curriculum!
I have to say I had never heard about
this company before this year. However, my fellow Crewmates were so
excited to see them as one of our upcoming product vendors. So of course
I couldn’t wait to see what all the hype
was about.
Super Duper Publications was started by a husband and wife team, Sharon
and Thomas Webber. Sharon was working as a speech language pathologist,
and Thomas was working as an attorney. They decided to start the business
in 1986. Sharon was already developing
products that she used in the public
schools. They started out with just a
few products, and today they have hundreds to choose from. These products
are made to be used by everyone, not
just therapists or parents.
Well, the big day came and we were
able to choose one of three products:
1. Jeepers Peepers ($29.95 for grades K
and up)
2. HearBuilder Auditory Memory Software ($69.95 for grades K- 8 grade)
3. HearBuilder Following Directions
Software ($69.95 for PreK- 3 grade)
The hard part for me was deciding
which one to choose! I decided to go
with HearBuilder Auditory Memory
Software mainly because our daughter has Auditory Processing Disorder.
Then there was the waiting for it to
arrive. It finally came in the mail with
their huge full color catalog! Oh, my,
where has this company been all my
life? There are so many great things in
there.
Hannah could not wait to get started
with this one, especially since this is
the first review we have done that was
directed toward her and her only. We
put the CD into the computer and away
she went. It was that easy. Nothing to
install! That was a big plus in my book!
She sat at the table for hours (it seemed)
playing this. She worked through many
of the levels. The graphics were so clear
and not computer-like, which I like, because when you are trying to teach your
child who struggles with speech the
proper way to speak, the program must
be clear. This has become her game. You
can see a demo on the website. Hannah
loved it when she foiled Dr. Forgetsit’s
plans. We would hear her laugh and
laugh. She really had a good time.
