All the preparation is done for the teacher:
On a cold January day I witnessed what I had been
praying about for a very long time: I found my son
reading a mystery novel.

reading a mystery novel. I watched the
clock. He did not stop reading. He read
until he finished the book. All told, he
read for almost two hours.
I asked him how he had read for such
a long period of time. He answered that it
was because reading was so much easier
now—the words did not fall off the page,
and he could use what he had learned with
SWR to help him sound out the words.
I learned that in order for Cole to read,
he needed to see the text accurately, and
he needed the knowledge to decode the
text based on a proven method. The
combination of vision therapy and SWR
equipped him to do exactly that.
Cole began reading after six months of
vision therapy. He performed a full year of
vision therapy and logged over 250 hours.
Cole’s eyes improved three chronological
years from August 2008 through August
2009! We visit his doctor annually.
As a family, we feel so blessed and
grateful that Cole can read. We have such
appreciation for The Old Schoolhouse
Magazine®, Wanda Sanseri, Lesley Barker,
and Dr. Wallis Reagin. We continue to
meet with learning success as we home-
school, and we know that the Lord walks
right alongside us every step of the way.
