Is it the study of Latin? Logic? Debate? Is it reading ancient books? Listening to
classical music? Including classes with great Bible teaching?
Classical Christian Education Made Approachable compares and contrasts
classical, Christian education to modern education—both public and Christian—
and demonstrates how this model has produced some of the finest minds in
history. If you’ve been wondering what classical, Christian education is all about,
this booklet is the right place to start.

In her 2010 book, aptly named The Core, Leigh Bortins describes a model of
classical education skills for parents to practice and perfect. The Core is based on
the idea that earlier generations of Americans agreed upon a base of knowledge
with which all educated people should be acquainted.
Some of these subjects, like geography, have been largely neglected in modern
schools. The Core helps parents reclaim their own education as well as that of
their children.
MADE APPROACHABLE
The Core contains the philosophy behind the classical method of studying:
Reading,
Writing,
Math,
Geography,
History,
Science, and
Fine Arts.
To know God, and to make
The Core also includes sample schedules and a comprehensive list of resources
for parents.
The recommendations in both of these books have been refined over the
course of three decades through the Bortins family homeschool and the
classical, Christian communities they established around the world for
homeschool families.
We believe, after all, that the the sole aim of education is
Him known.
We’d love to help you start the conversation.
