The Brain and Light
Sometimes you learn something so amazing andso shocking thatevery- thing in you cries out, “O God! I must trust You more!” This happened to me recently.
I’ve often wondered how an ant with the
brain the size of a grain of sand is able to
do what it does. And, how can we store the
memories of a lifetime, process trillions of
messages a second, operate billions of muscles of cells simultaneously in perfect harmony, and do all else that our cantaloupe-size brain does?
It turns out that scientists have just
learned that in the space of a period, a
God-created brain builds and destroys
tens of millions of 3-D molecular con-
figurations every second. There are also
light-producing and light-receiving mol-
ecules throughout our neurons. Not only
do nerves transmit information by mas-
sively complex chemical electrical sys-
tems, but also by light, enabling portions
of our transmissions to move at the speed
The new discoveries are so mind-bog-gling that a host of Ivy League scientists
now believe that one human brain carries
on more switching per second than all the
computers and web circuits on earth!

Science Ought To Be . . .
Science entails looking at the greatest wonders God has accomplished in this universe. This is something that can be learned
alongside Dad and Mom and brothers and
sisters. It has the possibility to change how
everything in this world is seen. It can be a
great faith strengthener for young and old
alike. And it can be done in a relaxed atmosphere and be shared with many.
There is tremendous untapped potential
in science instruction. However, students
can work hard tackling intricacies of science and—after years of great effort—very
little is remembered or appreciated, and
very little that glorifies the Lord remains.
There is, however, a different way to do
