children? What if they had told the participants that Nazi Germany banned all
forms of private education?
What to Do?
The is/ought fallacy is the mistaken belief
that something should exist solely because
it does exist. Simply because 34% of these
adults said they oppose parents being able
to homeschool does not mean that it is
right that this high of a percent should
Simply because 53% of these adults
think parents should have to get statist approval to practice home-based education
does not mean that is a “good” percent.
Those who believe in Biblical liberty and
classical liberal freedom must constantly
promote these forms of educational free-
dom for families. If they do not, the free-
dom of parents to choose the education

will quickly erode in the United States. I
have written elsewhere that there are actu-
ally professors today—in the “land of the
free and the home of the brave”—who be-

be in charge of the teaching, training, and
indoctrination of all children.
Parents who homeschool, and any adult
who believes in U.S.-style freedom, must

control their thinking. Lawmakers and
policymakers must not let the findings of
pollsters control their thinking and voting.

liberal liberty should be actively promoting
things such as the Parental Rights Amendment, not endorsing the UN Convention
on the Rights of the Child. They should
promote no government control of private
education, and no tax dollars going to, and
therefore controlling, private education.
