Representative for the 45th District. In fact,
Kentucky’s current governor, Matt Bevin,
and his wife, Glenna, homeschooled their
9 children for many years in the Louisville
area before taking on the role of Kentucky’s
first family. 20 While CHEK Director Scott
Bolin hopes to see even more homeschool
parents in government office, he points out
the immense value of the grassroots efforts
of homeschoolers serving in their own local
areas, “Parents that volunteer their time to
educating, mentoring, organizing, coaching,
and encouraging others in the private home-school realm are the foundational gears that
keep this movement going.”
Let’s continue to celebrate our home-school freedoms and remain vigilant to be
able to keep them for the next generation of
homeschooling families!
Nancy Carter is a very thankful veteran
homeschool mom from Kentucky. Since two
of her sons have already graduated from
Carter Christian Academy, she is particularly savoring the remaining homeschool years
with her youngest son. Nancy has a master’s
degree in conflict resolution and enjoys helping others improve how they navigate stressful situations. www.NancyRCarter.com
