TOS: Willie, thank you for taking time
to give the gift of music to our readers!
First, please share your musical background.
Willie: I started playing the piano when
I was a little tyke. I have a picture of my
mom with her hand on my back, prop-
ping me up at the piano in diapers. My
dad taught me how to play the piano at
first. He showed me chords and scales,
but I wanted to really learn how to play
songs that I knew, so at 15 I started
studying with a teacher who graduated
from Berklee College of Music. That was
it. I was hooked and knew that I wanted
to be a musician.
