What is multilingual, a little larger than a credit card, and taking educational computing by storm?
The Raspberry Pi® 1!
Don’t be fooled by the name and the
cute raspberry logo. The Pi is a power-
ful little computer contained on a single
circuit board. Why buy a Raspberry Pi®
rather than a low-cost laptop? If you
just want a computer for web browsing
and word processing, the laptop may be
the better choice. However, for learning
about computers, it’s hard to beat the Pi.
The Raspberry Pi®, designed and de-
veloped in England, was created to teach
young people about computers. It comes
loaded with a wealth of free software that
allows students to dig deep and learn
about programming, hardware, elec-
tronics, and operating systems. If you
already have the additional components
required for a functional computer—a
keyboard, mouse, monitor, and cables
