A. The Mom as Manager
This part is simply titled “The Mom as Mom”
which encompasses three roles: manager, emo-
tional center, and role model.
My son is the general manager of a restaurant.
As such, he is the one responsible for creating
and enforcing a schedule, making sure people
obey safety rules, and generally ensuring the
orderly operation of the restaurant on a day-to-day basis. Of course, he also has to report to
upper level management, who were ultimately
responsible for creating the model for this particular restaurant chain, and who were the ones
who set up many of the rules to begin with.
However, those upper level managers aren’t
there during the day, so the real daily management of the restaurant falls on my son.
It is very similar in a homeschool environment. The dad is like an “upper level manager,”
but since he generally isn’t there during the daytime, it falls on the mom to be the general manager of the household. Even when he is around,
a dad is often focused on things relating to his
