2014 Excellence in Education Awards
As a homeschool mom, you have a lot on your plate as you juggle being a wife, mother, and teacher. A big
part of your job is looking for the tools
to help your children learn. Finding the
“perfect” curriculum or learning materials for your children can be quite the
chore. It can be a daunting task trying
to decide which curriculum or materials to buy as you look online, thumb
through catalogs, chat with other
homeschool moms, or stare and compare at a homeschool convention. Add
in the restraints of a limited budget,
and the challenge increases.
If you’re glassy-eyed trying to sort
through all the curriculum choices
for your family, the TOS Excellence in
Education Awards will provide you with
a great starting point for your search. The
survey for these awards was publicized
through an E-Blast and social media, and
2,328 individuals responded with their
choices for the best of the best in almost
every area of study.
The survey was designed so that individual respondents entered the name of
a curriculum or product of choice for
each category. They were not given a set
of choices from which to choose. Consequently, the winners of the TOS 2014
Excellence in Education Awards were
clearly chosen by the respondents, and
the respondents were not constrained
by the crafters of the survey. After all the
data were amassed, category totals were
calculated and the winners determined.
In some categories, we’ve listed sec-ond-place finishers to provide even more
alternatives for you as you consider your
options. If responses varied significantly
among respondents, not allowing for
groupings of responses, only possible
place finishers are presented.
This year a number of new categories
have been added and more categories
have been divided into groups for elementary, middle school, or high school.
