In total, our family has been home-
schooling for almost 10 years now and
half of that time we have done it bilin-
gually. When we moved from our native
Puerto Rico to the United States, our
boys were seven and five years old, so
their Spanish knowledge was very solid.
On the other hand, their English was
very limited and they did not have any
spoken or written experience in it. So,
this bilingual homeschooling experience
started “cold turkey” for all of us. Well, I
had a good knowledge and understand-
ing of the new language, but it was a new
experience to speak in English to my

I can say that
