“Children are our most valuable natural resource.”—Herbert Hoover
When you watch a busy play- ground or follow a school bus packed with vibrant youngsters, do you see what
I see? Looking through the glass at the rows
of newborns in the maternity ward, do you
stand in awe? As you tiptoe in quietly to
gaze at your sleeping child, does he or she
just take your breath away? What do you
see in your little one? I pray that God will
let us see beyond the natural to the supernatural potential that He has deposited in
These children are God’s secret weapons.
These are our prophets and apostles and
evangelists and pastors and teachers in the
making. These are our trustworthy bankers,
honest lawyers, and decent businessmen of
tomorrow. In the sea of little faces across
the continents of the earth sit future mothers, fathers, mayors, governors, delegates,
diplomats, and other individuals significant
to the future of our societies.
Many, many children need to be told that
they are extraordinary. Many, many moms
and dads must look upon their children
with new eyes, full of faith, because God
creates no ordinary child. I don’t care if
they’re Down syndrome, labeled ADHD, or
slow learning children. I don’t care if they’re
cross-eyed or if they walk with a limp. They
may be foster kids, orphans, or truants. God
makes only dynamic children with limitless
potential, and it is up to us to unlock that
potential and present to God leaders who
will change our world.
